Morocco
The Kingdom of Morocco, slightly larger than California, sits on the northwest corner of Africa along the Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlantic Ocean. Up from the rich coastal plain rise the Atlas Mountains covering much of central Morocco, while southeastern Morocco is in the Sahara Desert.
Thank you for your interest in the work of Millennium Relief & Development Services in Morocco. Our partners are dedicated to helping the Moroccan people acheive their goals through coaching, advising and training.

Working Shoulder to Shoulder in Morocco November 2009
The goal of Advance, our Moroccan affiliate, is to empower local non-profit associations and cooperatives with training and resource opportunities. We engage people of initiative, partnering with them in the development of solutions with sustainable potential.
We challenge local leaders to think through root causes of problems in order to plan effective solutions. This approach requires patient, consistent interaction. It is often counter-cultural to clearly identify problems and commit to measurable expectations and results.
Advance hosted a forum in spring 2009 to encourage collaboration rather than competition among various associations. We also held seminars held for regional development leaders which included field trips, survey and research courses and advocacy training. Advance also provides cultural exchange opportunities for learner/leaders from the United States to interact with development practitioners in Morocco. These exchanges have included English classes, professional business consultations and music concerts,
We encourage local social innovators by assisting in small scale projects with the potential for transformational impact. Advance supports grass roots projects that are innovative and have sustainable solutions for local challenges. Recent projects include: improvements to a village school, income generating projects and a music conservatory. At Advance, we stand ‘shoulder to shoulder to provide the missing pieces’ for solid development solutions. |

Effectively Placing Pieces in the Development Puzzle November 2009
Advance seeks to empower local Moroccan non-profit associations and cooperatives by providing training and resources. Training programs and seminars include a diverse representation of local leaders as well as international cultural exchange guests. Resources are investments in the work via financial grants, but can also involve the donation of goods and services. Whatever the investment, we are proud to work shoulder to shoulder with Moroccans working to advance their country.
